My partner and I both have the Sony 6000. I love it and so does he. It's on a par with my Canon 5D. Of course my happiness with the Sony is probably a bit biased because a year ago I developed a heart/lung condition that disallowed me lifting anything over two pounds. The weight of the Sony 6000 has allowed me to continue with my passion for photography.

As good as the A6000 is, it's getting a bit long in the tooth (released February 2014). If you can afford the A6500, that's what I'd do. Otherwise as Paulie just said, go for the A6300.

If the 'two lenses' are the 16-50 and the 55-210, I would go for the 18-105 F4.0 OSS G instead and then buy the best A6xxx you can get with the balance of your budget.

Agree but, I own the D500 and it’s my favorite camera ever my wife has the a6000 I use it from time to time and we both are happy with it d500 for me is easiest to use when it comes to settings but the 6000 in manual you look through the viewfinder and see what you get

My son owns the Sony a6500 and loves it he shoots fantastic videos with it and The image stabilization works well.

So, between the two Sony’s I would pick the a6500. But if you’re planning to shoot wildlife with a long lens I would pick the Nikon D500 D500 is great for car racing as well

I have the 6500 which has caused my Canon 70d to collect dust since June. I looked at pros/cons of 6000/6300 (primarily price difference of course) and chose to pay the extra to get the in-body stabilization and touch screen. I'm thrilled with the camera. Find its size makes it easy to throw in my briefcase with the 16-50 kit or 28mm f2 lens. I'm taking more pictures, they are sharper and many more keepers. I love the EVF not only for composing but for reviewing images as well. As has been stated already, if you can afford the a6500 then that's the right choice. Technology ages quickly and the a6500 is the latest and greatest ASP-C from Sony.

I upgraded from the a5000 to the a6000 and love it. Tough decision for you. Since I have a limited budget I went for the a6000 and the basic kit lenses. If you have an unlimited budget go for the a6500 and Zeiss or G lenses. If you can only afford the a6500 with kit lenses verses the a6000 with Zeiss of G lenses. Go for the a6000 and the better lenses. The a6500 offers both in camera and on lens stabilization vs on lens only. The a6500 also offers some other upgrades over the a6000. Which ever one you chose, you will be delighted. Welcome to the awesome Sony family.

Go for the 6500. Once you try 5 axis image stabilization you will never go back.
