I don't use my cell phone for taking pictures very often, but it does come in handy. Clicking on "Gallery" on my Galaxy S4, I see thousands of pictures! Are they all taking up space on my phone? I use Google photos, and it seems that those pictures get transferred to my phone.

Connect the phone to your computer using the USB cable you use to charge it. Open "This PC" then Galaxy4, then the DCIM folder. If the pics are there, then you're using storage on you phone. There's room for a lot of photos.

If they are not there, then you are using the Google Cloud and using up your allocated data from your carrier every time you view a picture. You might want to limit picture viewing till you are connected to your wi-fi.

Thanks. I'll do that. I have pictures from years ago on the phone.

On my Samsung, "sync" was on. I could not delete images on my phone, they would re-appear the next day.
Yes, they were downloaded to my phone, not via the cloud.

I upgraded my cell phone to one with two Sim Card slots, one I use with a micro-SD card for photos and if traveling out of country for short periods, I can install a local SIM card in that slot if needed....helps keep from using allocated data from my carrier.

I use a free app called ‘Shoebox’, which zi downloaded from the apple app store. It automatically copies every picture on your Iphone onto the cloud do I can delete them on my Iphone saving storage for the images I want to carry on it. I currently have over 5,000 images on Shoebox free and with no storage limit.

Clever idea - just like some cameras.

Any pictures I take with my phone go directly to Google Photos. I always suspected that, but I tested it last night. See "CBS Eye" in the photo section.

Jerry: I have come to view you as my "go to" guy on UH with respect to a broad range of questions that I seem to have. I always enjoy your insights, comments and internet links--which I use frequently. It dawns on me that I have never--until today--seen you ask a question. I never would have guessed there was any gap in your broad photographic knowledge. Let me just say again, how much I have appreciated reading your posts. Best, nervous2
