Someone is always switching from something to something else. And lots of pros are sticking with their tried and true DSLR - just like me.

I have the Nikon 1 V2 with the one inch sensor and interchangeable lenses,,,I use mostly the 10-100 or 27mm to 270mm zoom lens in 35mm terms,,,,wonderful little and light camera and lenses to carry around and great in good light,,,,but not so great in low light or high ISO's Everything is a Compromise...I also have the Fuji XT2 and have shot with the latest Canon and Nikon gear,,,and will someday purchase Panasonic or Olympus....

Hi PH
I've been a MFT fanatic since the introduction of the Panny G1. I still have a G1. The kit lens that came with it was a 14-45 - once voted best kit lens ever. The G2 and onwards had a different kit lens. A very good buy at the moment would be a G5 (16mpx) which is my main camera, and will remain so until I can justify purchasing a G9, which is 20mpx. I use it with the 14-45 from the G1. I also have a 45-150 and a 35-100. The 35-100 is a collapsible lens and is tiny - makes a good walk around. Im sure you know that MFT is 2x crop. The lenses I have cover my needs for landscape and architecture and some portrait. 16 mpx is more than sufficient for my maximum A4 size prints. Ok for street as well.
The Panny GH4 and now the GH5 are fantastic cameras - if you do vid. If your interest is confined to stills (like me) then the G series has everything for you that the GH series can offer.
Wishing you every success with your future photography.
Del.

Hi Del,,,Thanks for the Great Info,,,,I am really interested in renting the G5 or the new G9 and videoing birds in flight and trying to pull 8 or 18 megapixel stills from the Video,,,maybe someday a fast shutter rate for sports and wildlife will not matter so much as the shutter rate for video and pulling stills,,,Wishing You too Every Success and Fun in Photography,,,,Dave

Could this challenge sales of the Nikon D850 I wonder.
The reviews rave about it but it’s sometimes hard to determine which are ‘paid for’ reviews of course.
Still, it seems to have tweaked some of the missing features of the D850, like the fully articulated screen, newer technology connectivity ...
My D7100now feels so big and cumbersome with its 2.8 24-70 lens compared to my LX100 with the same focal length.
Plus, for my use, mainly posting to my website, the quality difference is almost non discernible.
The only time I use the D7100 is if I need more reach or wider angle, which is rare.
If I had the money I’d replace both my cameras with the G9 and just 2 lenses.
And I’ve had Nikon for about 40 years, or more.

Nikon deservedly have a great name in photography - but smaller and lighter it would seem, are not their chosen attributes. The portability of MFT will eventually win the day - but not just yet, because there are great numbers of photographers at all levels who still dismiss MFT without any hands on experience of the marque. And have not considered the advantages of the 4/3 format.
