Not really. All of those I’ve seen so far were either a limitation already discussed in their FaceID white paper or a user who either inadvertently or deliberately tricked the phone into using the second face to retrain the software. FaceID isn’t perfect but when used properly works fine and according to the specs is better than the fingerprint. I’m sure that the face registration process will be modified to minimize the possibility of inadvertently training a different face.
The algorithm learns your face and retrains itself over time so if you get wrinkles or grow a mustache it learns how your face changes. It also doesn’t work for young children according to the white paper.
It’s not perfect but all of the hype I’ve seen so far about it being “hacked” is just that…hype. Even the guy that built the mask declined to reregister his face to prove his video…he claimed it was too hard but the real problem was that he constructed a 3D model of his face which fools the 3D recognition system sometimes in exacting circumstances.
Struck out? Several people?
Well, there you have it. Apple sucks. Everyone can be happy now.
