Probably not. Garbage seems to be attracted to itself. It's like particles in space joining to make planets. The Atlantic and Pacific also have these trash islands.

this isn't new. At least the one in the pacific has been talked about for quite some time. This is the first I have heard of the same thing in the Caribbean. I have not heard of any effort to do anything about it. That is more stunning to me, than that it is there. I see people throw their trash out their car windows all the time. We have plenty of words for when you have no feelings for how you adversely affect other peoples lives. Not too many for how people adversely affect our planet. All swept under the rug of progress an profit. A blind eye to anything that doesn't personally affect us. People need to wake up. Its not just a trash issue. Its just as much about how people treat people. It looks pretty bleak to me.
Don't worry we now have a new crackerjack head of the EPA.
