A cyber predator claims to want to purchase artwork of yours which he claims to have seen online, with a budget of $500 to $5,000. He claims it is a surprise for his wife and therefore he will send a check to you if you provide your address. He further claims he will be out of country and that his representative will pick up the art at your home. He goes under the name of James Brown from Washington D.C. His email address is Brownjamess101@gmail.com. This is identified as a distributable domain by Whitepages.com

I would tell this James Brown (or whatever he decides to call himself) he needs to transfer the payment electronically to me if he wants the artwork, and he won't be able to pick it up until after I have verified the fund transfer has been completed. No "check is in the mail, I'll pick it up meanwhile" nonsense. With a friend or family member I may agree to such a transaction, but certainly not with a stranger.

Please, only use PayPal for electronic transfers. The last thing you ever want to do is expose your bank account and routing number into the wild. I am not saying you would do this, but others here might.

Yes, I would normally use it, but that was not an option that was available, which also add me suspicious

Thanks, but I know that no one wants to buy my pictures, so I wouldn't be tempted.

Wanted to sell some of my pics, but couldn’t get the models release. Darn bird refused to sign. ;-)

Too many moving parts - and I would NEVER allow a stranger into my home, or provide my home address under such circumstances. Think about it - if you have a collection of photos worthy of being considered for purchase, odds are pretty high that you have at least a few thousand dollars worth of cameras, lenses, computer for PP, etc. Makes you a target for a burglary...or worse. World is crazy today, and this is clearly a scam to separate you from your work or worse... Thanks for the heads-up!

LOL! I had that same problem with a contrary buffalo. However, after intense negotiations, we settled out of court for a bucket of apples and a liability release! ;-)

I wonder if they would accept a bird dropping in place of the signature? LoL
