Windows 10 dual monitor problem

I have used Windows 10 with 2 monitors since Windows 10 was introduced and had no problem. About 1 month ago or so I started having problem with the second monitor doesn't turn on at startup. I can get it to turn on by either unplug the primary monitor and then reconnect or swapping primary to secondary and swapping them back in settings. I think some kind of update for Windows 10 causes this but I don't know what.
I have an ATI Firepro V5700 which ATI doesn't have a Windows 10 driver although the driver automatically installed by Windows 10 worked fine since I installed Windows 10.
Anyone has any idea?

It sounds like a device driver issue, so try different drivers if it isn't supported. ATI hasn't existed as an independent entity since its acquisition by AMD in 2006. Isn't this a 10 year old card? Try the Windows 7 or Vista 64 bit drivers. Good luck, but some new tech may be in your future.

This site implies a driver is available.

I have the same issue, I thought it was a problem with my monitor a Dell U2413IPS. I don't know right now what Video card I have but I bought it New within the last year and I always update my drivers. I fix it by hitting the power switch on the offending monitor and it comes on instantly. So you are not alone.

I have Windows 7, Windows 8 drivers from AMD but they don't work with Windows 10. I don't know how old the card is. It could be 10 years old but not because the name ATI. AMD owns ATI but still makes cards under ATI name.

I looked up the model number before making my previous post, and the card seems pretty old. I'm familiar with the AMD / ATI situation.
AMD has not provided W10 drivers for some of the older ATI cards.

There maybe a driver somewhere that works, but it could just be time to move on.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the card / device drivers?

if i'm understanding this, windows still thinks you have two monitors and after you change the cables around the second one works.
clean the cable connections or get new cables and clean the connectors they plug into

I am sure it's not hard ware. Idon't change the cable. simply unplug the primary (the one that works) and plug it back in then the secondary will turn on.

Well I am going to get the V5800 from Ebay. AMD has the Windows 10 driver for it.

I have had the same two dual monitors using Win 7 and Win 10 without issues until: I did have an issue for a while - one monitor would not get powered. Eventually, I discovered I had a corrupted Win 10 update.
I reinstalled Win 10 and no more issues. The reinstall was easy, because I backup all my drives with Acronis. I recovered an image prior to the issue, then ran updates.

Only problem that I had with two monitors on W10 is when my AMD settings got corrupted. Re-installed the AMD file with the latest one on problem was fixed
