Hi guys and gals.

I'm very new to UHH but have been following a lot of the topics. You certainly are a knowledgeable and interesting bunch. I'd like to say straight off that what I know about photography would fit in an eggcup and still leave room for the egg :-). I used to be into painting in oils and watercolour but now use Photoshop to create "pretty pictures" using my own photos, cos I moved to a smaller house and no longer have a room I can dedicate as a studio. I love creating without all the mess and smell of paint. The attached image was made using shots from an aquarium, a little girl and a lot of work with cut and paste and the smudge tool in PS. All crits. and comments welcome. I shoot with a Canon D60 and Canon 450D, both getting on a bit now but they do the job.

Nakpie223 Thanks for the kind comment. Funnily enough it was the daydreaming expression on the model's face that prompted me to use the image of the fish tank, taken at my doctor's surgery as I waited to see the doc :-)

belle44.....Lovely comment..thank you. I went to a sealife centre when they had those domed viewing windows and I saw a little girl looking into one...from the opposite end and could see fishes swimming round her face and remembered this when I built thte image.

A lovely memory that resulted in a lovely image. Great transition from paint and brushes to Photoshop art, it does look like a painting. Do you have more to share?

Yes....I've been doing it for 14 years or more...but I've got to the age where I can't remember where they live on my hard drive. I'll have to have a good rummage around but I will post some more if you have an eye for that kinda thing. I took up imaging when my husband decided to give up alcohol. He was so involved with his recovery that I had to occupy myself. The upside is that he has been sober now for 14 years and I enjoy my camera and cumputer immensely.

Please do share more that you find after your "rummage" :) I would enjoy seeing more of your work. And congrats to you for enjoying the camera and computer, and congrats to him for the 14 years. It's a tough road...I know.

mountaincamper....Thanks for the compliment. I have done a few comissions over the years. One I remember was a family portrait for a family who's name is Price. It was the Dad's 50th birthday. Dad was a Navy man so..... I used the bodies of a little "Caveman" family ceramic set. Mother had huge boobs, dad had a huge belly and hair from his chin to his fig leaf, son had a huge knobbly clug in his hands and they were all naked. I replaced the heads with those of the Price family, gave them all sailor hats with price tags attached. Mum was Top Price, dad was Original Price and the kid was Half Price. I placed them all on an ice flow in the Arctic with the Titanic sinking in the background. I had to paint some underwear on Mr.s Price for the sake of modesty. They all loved it and it gave them a good laugh. There were a few personal family references in the image as well but that was the gist of it :-) I get a real kick out of being just "silly" with my images sometimes. It don't do to take myself too seriously..... and just to illustrate....me, my hubby and my friend. Enjoy

Cathy, you are a very blessed and talanted lady and standing by your husband takes courage and a lot of faith in the big guy above. I grew up with a stepfather that had the same problem your husband had. He was also a very mean person. It would be an honor to see more of your pictures.
I am just starting out learning to take pictures and hope with practice I will be able to take shots like you and others do here on the forum
