hello everybody:

I've got missing photos sign.
I click in ! and it sent me to Peru>Previous locations>A hard disc>ZMPHOTOS>Peru Tarapoto 001-18JPG>Locate?

Of course I say yes locate>the whole file containing Peru photos opens up but # 18 is not there and neither one have the the same image but with a different number.
End of the quest?

But where is the photo?
What am I missing? Where can I look more and try to find the missing photo?

Thank you guys!

Assuming you have Windows as an operating environment, did you try to locate it using Explorer? You have that option in LR.

Unfortunately, your photos may simply be gone. If you had a hard drive issue, Windows will do a file-system check at boot time. Often it will come across files that it can't reconstruct, or can't identify. Windows will put them in a folder somewhere, but I have never had any luck getting anything usable out of the recovered files.

I had the same thing happen to me. Lightroom couldn't find the photos, because I lost them when my hard drive crashed. Almost everything made it, but several folders went missing. Fortunately they were all scanned from negatives, so I am just re-scanning them. My file naming scheme told me which roll/photo each one was, and Lightroom told me the filename, so it was easy to identify what was missing. If you have a backup, then you should be able to do the same - figure out what's missing from Lightroom and get them off the backup.

You know the name of the missing image, so do a search. Right-click on the Start button and enter the name. Even better, get "Everything," an excellent, free search program.

It's probably been moved to a new location. That can happen by accident. So you will have to find it. Suggestions have been given for a good search program. One more suggestion, check the trash.

However if using you cannot locate the image using the a methods mentioned, then you will have to restore it from backup.

The program "Everything" that has already been mentioned is an excellent program. It's free and have been using it for more than a year.

It's the file manager on your Windows computer. Apparently on Windows 10 machines it's now called File Explorer. Check it out on the Start Menu. On my machine the link to open it looks like a folder icon: it's the one to the left of the big E icon for Edge which is the new Internet Explorer tool.

hello everybody: br br I've got missing photos si... (show quote)

Hi, so my first thought, although you don't say this, is that you are editing photos from outside of Lightroom. But, this is only a guess as that was not clear to me in your post. If you are doing this, it would be a good idea to stop doing it. By editing all of your photos from within the program you will have fewer problems like this. The whole "missing photo" thing can get complicated; the program does not tell you where the photo was moved to because the original link is broken and the program does not know where the photo currently is, it's expected that the user would know that. So, ask yourself what was the last thing you did with the photograph and that might help you to remember where it is now. I am assuming that you know where your original files are kept? Go to the original file, outside of LR, and see if you can see that photo in the original file or in the file where you moved it to. It is, most likely, there. Once you know where it is you can then direct the program to re-link with that photo in it's new place. You can also go back into LR and remove the photo with the now broken link and then re-import the photo where you want it.
