Anyone have one in good shape for sale?
Go to WWW.Nikonians.org Then click on Forums (at the top) choose "I want to sell" and about the eighth entry down is one for sale. There maybe others I just didn't go far enough. Generally the members of the Nikonians are pretty good about the condition and price of the used equipment.

I wish you good luck, because that is one lens probably hard to find (as people probably don't want to get rid of them)!
Do you really need the F2.8 aperture? I went and got an AF 300mm F4 ED and the cost was a lot less than an F2.8 would have been. Plus it's an excellent, sharp optic as well. I simply bump up my ISO slightly to compensate when needed

One of my go to lenses was the 300 f2.8, version II. What a wonderful lens! Alas, sold it when I sold all my Nikon gear and went back to Canon. Sorry Scott, I would never compare the quality of this lens to the 300 f4. The f4 is a nice one, but not even close to the 2.8. However, just my most humble opinion on this matter. lol
I'm about to make the switch from Nikon to Sony and will be selling all my Nikon gear. I do have a manual focus 300 2.8 in excellent condition. The lens was built I believe in 1985 and I have had it since 1987. I don't think I've put more than 1000 exposures on it. I used to be able to hand hold it but I'm not as young as I used to be. This is a really great lens and looks remarkable. I was going to wait until after the new year to offer it up for sale but I would be willing to sell it now if you're interested. PM me if you have interest in this lens.
