I've seen painted ponies (NM), painted moose (CO), and now painted bears. Oh yes, Painted Cows in Chicago where the whole thing started. I believe they are used for fund raising for the city.
Nice series. Others mentioned collections that are scattered around other cities. Here in Waukesha, WI (home of Les Paul - guitar), there are decorated large guitars scattered on street corners throughout the city. One of these days, I'm going to get out and take some photos of some of them. I just don't know where most of them are. Fun project for this winter, find the guitars.
