What kind of DVD are you trying to make? Where do you intend to play it? How many catalogs do you have? Where did you put them when you started them?

So, start with the basics and read the LR manual under Help at the top of the program menus concerning the catalog and its sections. It would take pages and pages of information to educate you on LR and that is all available in the manual or online elsewhere. But, there is no option in LR to create a DVD. You can export photos to somewhere else and create a DVD in some other program or load the photos to a CD from that place. LR simply links from where you keep your photos to a panel to the left of the application window so that you can see and use all of your photos. These photos show up as folders, the very same folders you have on your hard drive or external drive or where ever you store your photos. Only you can determine where the photos are kept and what is in the folders. It is very easy to find the photos once you have a defined storage system, which you may not yet have based on your comment about not finding the correct pictures. One does not "retrieve" a catalog, the catalog you work with will simply open (unless you have set the program preferences differently) upon clicking on the LR program icon. When open the application window will be in the center, your folders will be on the left, and your editing options will be on the right. Read the manual and start over to get the most out of the program. You can also look at my website on LR and see if that helps you, viathelens.net. Or other web sites and videos.

In the Library module, click on Export (lower left) and choose under Lightroom presets select Burn Full-Sized JPEGs. Clicking Export will bring up a CD drive dialogue box, and assuming you have a writable disk in the drive, the process will proceed.

Interesting. I've always used Ctrl-Shift-E, and I've never exported from LR directly to a CD. I've used the drag and drop technique. Thanks for pointing that out.

Make whatever you want and export the project/picture/slideshow whatever. Then burn it to disk with your disk burning utility.
