Life and Death in the Marsh--Harrier vs. Coot
These photos were taken from a distance and are therefore not my best, but I thought the story was worth showing. We live nearby a marsh auto tour which gives lots of opportunity for photos. We both knew what a Northern Harrier standing in water meant--a Coot was likely underneath being drowned. So we stopped and watched. I used my Nikon telephoto lens to capture these pictures. Another Harrier came along to steal the meal and upset the plans dramatically. Keep your eye on the black lump.

Excellent set. It is wonderful to watch these natural occurrences and be able to photograph them.
GREAT set ! ......thanks for sharing
This is a wonderful set, Katydid! I find it hard to watch some aspects of "nature" but that's the way it is!
