Thanks for looking, cmc.
They weren't there on Thursday. I was away from home all day Friday while they were evidently busy little bees. Discovered them this morning.

Haha. Thanks, Earl. It was a feeder full of frantic activity - on a sugar high, I suppose!

WOW! I've never seen anything like this, Sherry! Just wish these were nasty yellow jackets instead of honeybees.

I have found the occasional wasp trapped in a hummer feeder - but never this! I'm thinking the honey bee population has been decimated by too many hummer feeders. I know I have bought some feeders that claim to be "bee proof", but this evidently was not one of them. They are in heaven - the ones on the inside, literally. Will they go home after dark so I can properly bury the dead and remove the death trap?

LOL I don't know, Sherry. I've had yellow jackets trapped in hummer feeders but never a bee. In fact, I've never even seen honeybees around ours, but that's probably because of the yellow jackets keeping everything including hummers (and me) away.

WE had bees by the hundreds, but never in the feeder except a few here and there. When they kept the hummers away, I filled a couple of dinner plates for them to feast on, yet not drown.

Glad I never had to deal with this!

Thanks for the "thumbs up"!

Wow! Great shots, sherry. Time to clean the feeders but let them drink it all first!

Thanks for looking and commenting, Janos. I forgot to go outside last night and remove the death traps. They are back at it now and I will offer them a non-lethal method of dining. Hopefully, trough-style will lure them away from the feeders before any more of them buy the farm!

Thank you, merry! Yes, I must clean the feeders. Poor bees, all they wanted was a little sugar.
In the past we have had many bees on the property making hives in the hollows of trees, but other than the occasional one or two, these are the first I have seen in several years. I understand their populations have greatly declined everywhere. Guess I'd better get out there and save them from their gluttony.

Thanks for looking, Bob. I hope I can avoid a bee attack. They let me get really close yesterday while shooting them, but I wasn't trying to take their food away! Got to lure them away from the traps - hope they don't have any killer-bee genes.

I have never seen such a thing, Sherry! How alarming, but your caption on the last picture made me chuckle in spite of the carnage.
