Does anyone on this forum use Topaz Studio? If so your opinions good or bad.
Thanks

I've downloaded the 30 trial a short while ago, my video card is at the minimum required and it's painfully slow. It seems to be a real memory resource hog, no pun intended. I've used Topaz's stand alone applications like Denoise which run just fine so I assumed that studio would as well but, I was wrong. Be sure to check their system requirements on their website, if you're at the lower end like I am, don't waste your time.

Problem for Topaz plugin users is that they seem to be moving to Studio as the engine that drives all the plugins. Studio will be the plugin engine. It does install for use all the plugins you own. However.....

All future updates will come via part of studio.

If you are like me I am at the minimum required on the video end. It once worked, now after a WIN10 update it will no longer load the presets. Future updates to Studio may or may not fix my problem. Interesting from version to version it works, then breaks, works ...... you get the idea......

When it worked it was great. Problem is I am not going to buy a new computer to use with a plugin provider. I will have to live with versions that now work and skip Studio until they figure out a way to make it work at the system requirements they list.

In the end all the free presets will keep many happy and the add on to the 'pro' features will probably not be enough to keep them growing a paying base.

Plus my life time of upgrades is now screwed. Without a working copy of Studio I will left out.

I have Studio and use the Detail plug in. Speed is not an issue for me...my computer is well equipped.

I would expect that as software becomes more sophisticated hardware will be pressed to keep up.

I have my eyes on Luminar for Windows. Something tells me it is a better value.
I use Topaz Denoise, Adjust 5 and B&W Effects 2. I hope I will be able to continue using them.

Thanks to all. I have no problem with computer speed. Actually just wondering if studio was a good path in case they up the ante on ps/lr. Thanks again.

When you buy Studio you will also have to buy several apps in order to make it fully usable. You also can use any of their other apps as plug-ins. I have the whole smear and really enjoy all that I can do with it. It ain't cheap, but it is good.

I had the same experience. Topaz was freezing up on me at every turn.

Maybe you need a better video card or more memory.

In the end, I decided Topaz just wasn't worth that kind of hardware investment. Much of what the Topaz plugins do can be achieved with the editor alone, it just takes a little longer and requires more effort. As my editing skills continue to improve, I turn to plugins less and less.

Studio is free if you wish to use the plugins after the trial period you have to pony up some cash all in all its a good program I have used the topaz software for quite a few years now and get some nice results.

I did too, now my PSE12 sits idle. I love the program and all the features and pre-sets.

I love Topaz Studio. I had Clarity and detail as plug-ins for PSE 13 and they automatically populated Studio. I think they work better and more intuitively in Studio. I also love the masking function as well. I'd suggest you watch some of the Studio tutorials, especially the webinars by pros Joel Wolfson and Rad Drew to get an idea of the workflow which I think is much faster in Studio. I have had no problems with crashing or slow speed.
