The 10-20 DX lens by Nikon is a very affordable alternative for extreme wide angle shooting. As when using any other wide angle you should be closer to your subject for more impact.
The images I have seen from that lens appear pretty good to me.
There should be plenty of information in the Internet to learn to use your lens properly.
