A few days ago, I asked about Morristown, NJ. I went there with a friend last night to watch a performance at MPAC. What a pretty town! I hope to go back in the daylight and get a better view. If you're in the area, pay a visit to Morristown. It has beautiful old building and nice new shops.

Check out the MPAC theater. It has some great shows coming.

Got engaged in the restaurant in the Morristown Inn in 1969! Don't know if it is still there.

I don't think I've been to Morristown since '68, last time I remember was with my parents just before I went into the service, don't know why we were there. it's only about an hour or so away, Bob.

There are two historical sites worth seeing in Morristown, which would require very little time: 1) the Canfield House - this is where Alexander Hamilton proposed marriage to Jessie Schuyler, the grand daughter of the famous general and, 2) the Thomas Nast house - the home of the famous "muckraker" of the late 19th Century who first started the tradition of the elephant as the symbol of the Republican Party and the donkey for the Democratic Party, and became the "father " of political cartoon journalism.

I'll plan a daytime visit before it gets too cold.

There are many cool, quaint & interesting towns in Morris, Mercer, Somerset, Sussex and Hunterdon counties. Unfortunately, most never get off the interstates or Turnpike and only see the commercial and ugly parts of NJ.

I agree with you Mark. NJ is actually a pretty state. and it's always getting bad mouthed. Here's a joke I heard about it.........This guy was parked along the Hudson River in NYC making out with his girlfriend. It was getting all hot and heavy and she was starting to moan. She yelled out, " for godsakes kiss me where it stinks!!"
So he took her to New Jersey............I hate it but it IS funny.
