Super Dome...New Orleans.
Walked around the Dome, while waiting for the train to Jackson Mississippi, almost a week ago.
We've had a rental car for 4 days, loved driving around Mississippi and Louisiana. Explored the Natchez Trace Parkway between Jackson and Natchez, won $6 at the casino..woohoo! Stayed at Winnsboro La, big storm early, then drove through the Tensas wildlife refuge and got the rental all muddy. The only wildlife we saw was something that looked like a cat, but bigger than a house cat, reddish in colour. Would like to know what it was.
Tallulah a sadly neglected town, Vicksburg interesting history, wonderful murals along the riverfront. We explored Yazoo City, such history there too. Almost a ghost town in the main street, and some beautiful, grand old 2 story antebellum houses abandoned and boarded up.
We have truly loved the south, and meeting people, who have been so friendly and polite, very welcoming, though a little puzzled why we want to visit their out of way places.
Been funny at times, getting around our accents, wouldn't think we are all speaking English.
Tomorrow we leave the deep south, heading to Atlanta by greyhound bus and Amtrak via Tuscaloosa.
We've loved being here, have felt totally safe and welcome. Feel sorry that so many people seem to be doing it so tough though.
That's a great shot of the Super Dome, hope you have a good trip to Atlanta and that huge city. Civil War history abounds in the south. I'm here in Nashville at the other end of the Natchez Trace Parkway. I've been enjoying the stories of your trip. They are so fun to read, so thanks for the narrative as well as a few photos. Take care and have fun...
That is the way more people should see this great Country! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Jorge.
I’ll be home between 1 and three. Then after 6 or 7. Can you bring the metric change Assy. I’d like to compare it to the one I made.
James thanks so much.
Your kind words mean a lot. We would have loved to see Nashville and the Rocky Mountains, had to make the hard choices.
The Civil War history is so interesting and tragic. Stopped at all the turnouts we saw on the part of the Trace we travelled.

Glad to hear you are still having fun. The cat you saw was probably what we call a bobcat. Also known as a lynx. They are quite shy and you were lucky to see it if that is what it was.

Wish I was with you, Jude. Nice shot.
[A bobcat! I wondered. It ran across the road in front of us. At first I thought a rabbit, no, too big and wrong shape and gait. Definitely cat-like, but not huge. Just a glimpse. Saw quite a lot of roadkill around, including an armadillo. At home we have heaps (in certain areas) of kangaroos and wallabies, plus other poor animals as roadkill). Hoping to see lots of wildlife in Utah...though not as roadkill!

[Earl, I wish you were here too.
I know you travelled the south with your music, you should tell ever one about it. quote=DOOK]Wish I was with you, Jude. Nice shot.
