I think the second picture has the best composition. Interesting effect.
Care to elaborate on the process?

Yes, I used a small handheld elongated LED flashlight and covered it in different colored selafane plastic, and then placed it facing downward first behind my back then just in front of my tripod to see the differences in color and intensity.

Don't know what part of the sky you had your camera on, but it appears you may have caught the Andromeda galaxy on the top photo, just off center on the right. You can see the central disc. A very long time exposure would be needed to see the spiral shape of this galaxy, which is as broad as 6 full moons lined up.

I took a few shots here anywhere from 20 to 30 seconds
