Last night, a friend, posted on facebook "2 Swans at Lexington Green", and I was thrilled.
Lexington Green is an "mall"/shopping center here in Lexington that is .... barely holding on. The status goes up and down, but the owners are trying hard to succeed. One of the features there, between a outdoor restaurant and the parking lot is an nice pond with 2 fountains. A few resident ducks stay there year round, and it often receives migratory visitors.
So, armed with the rumor, my wife and I stopped by to check it out. There, all the way across the pond, with a group of 20 or so ducks, are two swans. I left my wife to watch, as I rushed back to collect my $1000 Trench Mortar lens. In the few minutes I was gone, Annie found a quarter, and a duck food dispensing vending machine.
I got back, with my long lens to find the swans too close to use the lens.
I am now the proud photographer of close up swan portraits. My wife says she did not expect the "wild swans" would come over!
Thought you might enjoy my misadventures.
Beautiful close-ups! I love their bills.
That's always how things seem to happen...
Wrong lens at the wrong time...LOL
