This project started out about a month ago as just an exercise on how to digitally paint ocean water and hopefully make it look realistic. I never expected it to turn into a finished project, but as I kept painting, it looked better than I expected. I added the ship, the Star of India, which I shot in port last summer back in San Diego. It was the photo I submitted for the "My Photo, Your Look" contest a couple of weeks back. Since I was already working on it, I figured I'd let others work on it as well and see what they came up with.

Consider this my late entry. Hope you like ...

Thanks Blue, I appreciate the very kind words. I’d like to think my masking was that good, but I actually had to delete all the ropes and paint them back in for it to look realistic.

Beautiful "Photo Art" as I call it. Most people won't believe the hours and hours of work you put into this. I worked on the challenge you presented last month and I just through mine together. I can really appreciate all you efforts especially taking the man out and making you own folds in the forward sail. The shore walkway to the boat was another troublesome area along with all the fine rope work. Well done. Curious what will you do with this piece now. Just for you or will you print and sell this?

That, my friend, is a lot of work. Nicely done BTW...

There is a lot to say about the artistry you have achieved in this composition. If I had seen it without your name attached I think I might have thought it was a creation of yours. A little unrealistic but I like it.
