Even though there is a Version II, this has been the gold standard of a great zoom telephoto lens for the Canon for many years. A good price for this excellent lens.

Will the auto focus work with this lens and 1.4XII on a Canon 70 or 80D?

Yes on the 80D (AF to f8) no on the 70D when using the viewfinder (AF to f5.6). Some users tape the pins on the camera to lens interface to enable autofocus beyond f5.6, but I haven’t tried it so can’t comment - perhaps another member can clarify.
