My attempt to capture the solar eclipse.
I have been surprised that there have been so few eclipse photos. posted so I thought I would share my attempt with you and hope to get some feedback. To create this composite, I covered the front of of my Sigma DG 150-500 mm telephoto lens, which was attached to a Nikon D 7000 Nikon camera, with a solar protective film I had ordered for this purpose. I then mounted the equipment on a tripod, pointed it toward the sun, zoomed in and began shooting. Camera settings were f5, 1/500 sec, ISO 1000, 150mm. I repeated this process for the next three hours until the sun/moon eclipse dance was completed. Here in north central Oklahoma, totality was never achieved. Subsequently I also took a photo of the field and trees where I was photographing to serve as a background photo.
Using the free online pixlr editor, I edited, cropped, and made transparent, the photos of the sun/moon and superimposed them on the background photo. I then added the text to the composite.
Hope you enjoy this effort and please send your comments and suggestions for improvement.

Sun/Moon Eclipse Dance
Beautiful! I didn't attempt to capture it on film (or pixels), due to inexperience. Perhaps next time, if I'm still around... Great job!
Nice work! I passed on shooting because we had a yard full of visitors. 8 more years!
Nice. Interesting process.
There were many on the astronomy forum. You can see mine in my post list from Glendo WY. Interesting idea you had.
