Rain Puddle Reflections

Started my western Maine vacation with rainy windy weather. When the rain stopped, I found a couple of puddles on the trail that were still and reflective.

Nice pictures. I wonder what the second one would have looked like with the floating leaves in focus and the reflections blurry. Just a thought.

I might be able to redo this photo, it rained again last night. I'll post it if I get it. I would have liked it if they both were in focus, leaves and trees.

If you manually focus sharply on a mirror image or other reflection, are you focusing on the glass or the subject reflected?

In the first photo, I focused on the floating leaves; in the second, I focused on the reflection. I like the first better.

I really like the second photo --- with one addition. It seems that because you focused on the "trees", it's harder to tell it's a reflection in a puddle. How about having someone drop a pebble, or jab the puddle with a stick, just off to the right, out of frame, and capture the "ripples" as they cross the puddle. The effect might last long enough to change focus from the trees to the leaves. Just a thought....

I agree the reflection is too perfect, it looks like leaves thrown on a mirror. i'll try your pebble idea.
