Check out the recently released video from the Camera Store- their experiences after 6,months. GH5 is the camera they use now.

It is getting rave reviews, now that Firmware 2.1 is available for download. There are profiles on YouTube of several professional photographers who use GH5s.

I'm pretty sure I want one!

I love the specs and reviews of the GH5. My only thought with this format for a huge amount of stills
is overheating. My a6300 doesn't freeze but does get hot with 4K shooting. What I have read of the GH5
is very impressive. I might try it but have no lens to use. And I am invested in Sony at this point.
The issue of FF not mattering to me is not true. I prefer the a7s II over the GH4 because of the sensor.

There is no overheating issues with m4/3 cameras. That is a Sony thing.

I see a lot of professional photographers switching to the GH5 from the A7sII. If you do a lot of very low light photo/video work, I guess you just have to put up with some of those annoyances. Nothing is perfect.

The GH4 and GH5 are very well engineered for heat dissipation. I have NEVER had my GH4 overheat, even in 98F heat, in the sun. They will record video until the card is full or the battery is dead, whichever comes first.

If you have a battery grip or battery eliminator with AC adapter on the GH5, you can shoot indefinitely. It has two card slots. You can “hot swap” full cards for empty ones, and the camera can run on its internal battery while you swap the one in the grip.

Furthermore, neither the GH4 (in USA) nor GH5 (most countries) has the 29 minutes, 29 seconds, 29 frames tariff recording limit.

If continuous video won’t overheat it, stills won’t either...

I used full frame and APS-C gear for years. For the things I do, I don’t miss it. I seldom set an ISO over 1600. But I’ll use my GH4 at 3200 for stills, and 6400 for video if needed. Generally, though, when possible, I light my scenes enough to stay under 1600.
