MMC Sorry I'm kinda dumb, in what way particularly. My camera has a facility that shows where my focal point was after the shot has been taken.

MMC Thanks for your response --- now there are two of us going to check for the facility. Please keep me posted as to your success. I will certainly let you know what I find. I don't really use Lightroom but it's good to know about it's capabilities. Thank you for the info.

Easy (I had to look this up, too). Select/Focus Area.

Or, the lovely Julianne Kost can explain it for you:

Thanks for your reply. I already have this plugin for Lightroom. You can see it on my attached picture. But I am asking about Photoshop. I also have ViewNX2. Which has this feature.

I checked it yesterday. It helps to find and select area (not focal point) which is in the focus but I am looking way to see focal point in Photoshop. I can see it on my camera monitor, in Lightroom and ViewNX2. Attached picture shows how can I see Focal point in ViewNX2.

So, let me get this straight. I have it the focal point plugin. If I focus and recompose, it shows the spot where I pushed the shutter button, not where I originally focused. It would be nice to see where I locked in focus, but it doesn't do that. I've been confused on this plugin. Which way is it supposed to be?

I am using back button focusing. I think when I press back button and release it before recomposing I will see focal point where I focused.

Yes, I use bbf, and it shows the point where I pushed the shutter button, not where I focused. Confused.

I checked my camera and Lightroom plugin. I am attaching 2 pictures. 1-st I have taken focusing on dot 1 and took picture and the 2-nd one pressed BB, release it and recomposed camera to close to dot 2 and took picture. Plugin does not show focus point (red square) on the 2-nd picture, it shows where I could focus when I pressed shutter release button.

I appreciate your taking the time to do this experiment. IMHO, the plugin should show only your red box focus point whether you recompose or not. I only want to know if I got the right focus. Does that make sense?
