Yellowstone N.P. - Rutting Bull Elk
Arrived at this little box canyon before daylight and had a fun morning watching four bugling elk challenge each other. There was about 40 cow elk up on the timbered side of the canyon that they were lusting for. Had to lift shadows for most of these as they were taken before daylight.

I've heard there are elk in Pennsylvania.
That's a lot closer.

Believe they may even have a hunting season there or maybe Virginia. Thanks for the update Pat.
Very nice work, Jederick!

Thank You S-C, wish the light would have been better but they were gone by that time. You take what nature gives you and I enjoy that too!!
When I was there, the only elk I saw were out at dusk. It was far too dark for the film I was shooting! You make me think perhaps I should revisit them via LR or ACR. Nice images. I really like the small one.

Thanks AzPicLady. The last one is my favorite as you can see him bugling better than the first photo. It was an awesome morning to be there for an hour before they all headed into the timber.

Fit and healthy looking animals Jederick, very good series.
Very nice shots; it must have been wonderful to see and hear these bull elk on their own turf!
