I'll Fly Away

When I was a prison chaplain I also played guitar and led singing. One of their favorite songs was "I'll Fly Away". Especially the verse "Like a bird from prison bars has flown, I'll fly away". It has always been very special to me.
This photo was taken with an old D1x on a cold dark day with a not so good lens so it's not the best but it reminds me of Psalm 139:9-11 "If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me."

I gotta say there's very little more blessed than 100 spirit filled prisoners singing "I'll Fly Away".

Wonderful old message song. Can't imagine the richness of that many male voices singing from the depths of their hearts and souls.
