I went out one morning and found him hanging there with his eyes closed, I thought he was dead but when I touched him he opened his eyes and flew away. The next day he was hanging there again and that is when I took these pictures. As far as I know he is still alive.

I kind of know how he/she feels. Sometimes it I just need to look at life from an upside down point of view, too.
That explains that. Thank you

Not this exact behavior, but male hummers do not nest after they fledge. They roost instead of nesting and many times they will reduce their normal metabolism and go into something called torpor. Their metabolism is reduced about 95% and they appear to be dead. This reduces their consumption of calories drastically. Hummers have several traits that scientists cannot explain, you may have caught one of these traits. If you know anything about hummers this is an "action" shot. Keep it!
Can't say that i have..nicely captured.
Well, learn something new everyday!
