Greetings, UHH members!:> I am sharing this set of photographs, taken and submitted for an on-line course...at Oxford University(UK)~titled "Introduction to Animal Behavior". These photos were an 'optic' example, accompanying my final research paper, which dealt with 'antagonistic' behavior of barnyard roosters/ (hens)!
All of the photos...were taken of 'free-ranging' (Wild Ranging) rooster/hens, who were naturally having altercations over 'territory'= Territorial Disputes!:>
Warmest regards,
CyberDave
I didn't realize that the free ranging birds were so bellicose. Very good shots.

Some of these are rather interesting, especially the first picture.
Looks like a good subject to pursue.
Nice shots. My grandkids could verify free-range roosters can be a bit mean - mine would chase the grandkids away from their area and occasionally chase me, too. We changed their names from Pete and George to Stu 1 and Stu 2.
What's the matter with those birds?! Can't they just live in peace? : )

Very nice action here well photographed....Rich
Yes, Jerry~ BUT...the reality of "just live in peace" often times, runs contrary, to the 'natural world'>at least chickens!:>
Here are some additional captures, illustrating the reality of=('natural' behavior at times will 'trump'_human perceptions). *Forrest Gump would say:"Nature is-what Nature does"

My dad had chickens during the 2nd world war. Even I know you never put two rosters in the hen house.
Very nice series. It shows the people are not the only animals to have territorial conflicts.
