Canon 80D ,wanting to do low key photography with motorcycles, hoping on a Canon 2.8 or 1.8, not sure of focal length, fixed or zoom, camera mounted on tripod, maybe around 10' from subject. Thank you

This Tamron is a good lens - not perfect tho......but I still like it a lot ! This is the lens I would use for what you want .....-http://www.ebay.com/itm/TAMRON-20-40MM-F-2-7-3-5-ASPHERICAL-IF-SP-LENS-FOR-CANON-EF-MOUNT-w-Hood-/132080038620?hash=item1ec09572dc:g:fAIAAOSw9GhYjrlc

Tokina makes a nice 20-35mm 2.8 ATX pro lens also.

By 'low key' do you mean low light - dramatic shots - or low angle? Why f/2.8 or f/1.8? At around 10' from the subject you shouldn't need a very wide lens. What do you have currently? What do you mean by wide angle? Do you want a Canon lens, or just a Canon compatible lens?

Are there any representative types of images that you can post as an example?

Would this be a starting point or something different?

The Tokina https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/882235-REG/Tokina_atx116prodxc_ii_AT_X_116_PRO_DX_II.html is a very nice lens. I'm not sure what you think of Ken Rockwell but he does a review of this lens here http://www.kenrockwell.com/tokina/11-16mm.htm#rex

This lens also works on my full frame 6D at 16mm with no vignetting.

Take a HARD look at the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Art lens. Pretty much perfect for your use.

Also, the Canon EFS 17-55mm F2.8 may be a good one to consider.

Canon has a nicer 10-18mm EFs lens for wide angle.
Not sure what low key is. At 10' a faster 24-70mm f2.8 would work.

Seconded. On a Dx body, the Sigma 18-35 will blow you away.

The OP has a Canon 80D, which is not a DX body. DX is a proprietary Nikon thing!

Ok, some clarification needed, low key as in black background, 1 or 2 off camera flashes, prefer Canon, maybe just being stupid about that, started using 85mm 1.8 EF lens for portraitures, really like depth of field, but need a wider angle lens to have entire bike in pic, with Canon 80D ,want an EF lens, as planning to upgrade to full size sensor someday, does that help?

Yes, thank you. Please use <quote reply> so that we can track the conversation. If you want Canon lenses then I would suggest EF 16-35 f/2.8L II, EF 16-35 f/4L IS or EF17-40L depending upon price point. Cost wise, and depending how far in the future a FF upgrade may be, an EF-S lens may cost less and still retain good resale value.

The third part lenses suggested are also good candidates.
