Problem with Apple Photos

I am trying to find out if other people using Photos have had the problem described below. A few days ago I moved from a 2012 Macbook Pro running Sierra to a new 27" iMac, also running Sierra. I have been using Photos for organizing and editing. More or less at random when I open a picture in Photos on the iMac, after it loads it will briefly shake or jerk left and right. A few times when I left it open it would jerk again. I have not seen any pattern among the photos, e.g., portrait or landscape, edited or not edited, original in RAW or JPEG, or file size. There have also been problems with the screen freezing for a short period while scrolling from one picture to the next. In some cases the screen would white out with the thumbnail grid visible in the background for a few seconds, then go to the next picture. I did not have the problem with shaking on the Macbook. Scrolling would occasionally be slow if I was moving quickly but this has been worse and the whited out screen is new.

I spent a lot of time yesterday afternoon and evening talking to Apple Support, and they eventually had me reinstall Sierra and then upgrade to HighSierra, which I did overnight. The jerking still seems to be there. The support staff said it was new to them. They did do several screen shares and saw the shaking. I have done Google searches and found something that might be similar reported on Sierra, but never with reference to the Photos application. I haven't done a lot else with the iMac yet, so I can't tell if it's just Photos. Thanks for any ideas.

I've been using Photos almost from it's beginning and have had no problems. I suggest you contact Apple Support.

Spoke with 5 different Apple support staff between 3 and 11 pm yesterday.

Apple support can come into your computer to see your issue.

Suggest you delete the App, and reinstall. Won't affect any photos.

I have never had a problem, could it be a hardware problem with the computer?

I have had an IMac for several years. I did upgrade to Photos from IPhoto when it was released, no problem. I am still running Safari. I see you are in the northeast. If there is an Apple store near you I would bring it in to them. If you save that special box that it was shipped in (hopefully) it;s much easier to carry it in to the store.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did save the box.

Three different support people did that. I think they all saw at least one example of the problem happening.

Thanks to all who responded. Since you were all kind enough to respond to my question I thought should report the apparent resolution. My second senior advisor from Apple Support figured out that the shaking of the images I saw was related to the track-pad feature of the Magic Mouse (which I have not used before). He said it should clear up if I started using a mouse with a USB connection and that seems to be the answer. The problem with scrolling was something they knew about and expected to correct. Apparently I'm the first person they've encountered who didn't know about the track pad feature on the Magic Mouse. And yes, I do feel pretty dumb.

Thank heaven they found the problem before you had to drag the whole thing in. I might point out that you had to go through more than one Apple expert who is paid to troubleshoot before the problem was discovered. You are not dumb.

If you were "dumb", you would still have the issue. Good for you, "smarty"!!

Some of us have an "emitting/conducting electro-field" surrounding our fingers that make a track pad very sensitive to our presence. On my MacBook Air, I don't even have to touch the track pad and it will execute commands when my fingers get near it. I once had one of those Apple bluetooth trackpads and had to return it because it was so sensitive to my presence. I once inadvertently completed an application in French when I was filing out a form and had to call their support line to delete it because I could not read French and didn't recognize the delete key---lol
