I was wondering if anyone has purchased from this company. If you have, how were they to deal with. Most online reviews seem favorable. They have a lens I am interested in and most of the other companies do not have a used one in stock.

Never even heard of them, Boz ...

Where did you get the name? ... Was it Amazon?

Watch out with those places. They will undercut others on price, considerably.

And then when you go to close, they tell you the battery and charger is $100 extra ... so, watch out!

Chris, thanks for the warning. I had not heard of them, but they evidently have a setup in England and another in New York. I have been keeping my eye on KEH for the lens, as I have purchased from them and Adarama in the past for my used products. Since nobody has heard of them, I will give it a miss. I know I had never heard of them until recently. Thanks again for your comment.

MPB are a very reputable long established company here in the UK. I have dealt with on a number of occasions with no problems. They have recently opened up in the US.

Sure, Boz ... happy to help ....

But, I am not the last word in these matters, by a long shot ....

Adorama and B&H are both reputable outfits in NYC, as are Cameta and KEH - so I understand ...

If none of those have the item you desire - perhaps, they could get it for you ...

Thanks Graham. I was wondering about it. Since you are in the UK it probably doesn't effect you, but are the used lenses they sell USA or what we refer to as Gray Market? The Gray Market items Nikon USA will not service over here.

I am looking for a used Nikkor 200-400 AFS f4 lens. I am not in a great big hurry, so I could wait to see what shows up at KEH. Graham just posted and he said they are very big in the UK, and they have expanded to the US market recently. So I will see. I may write to them and see if they are reselling US or Grey Market lenses. The grey market lenses are the same as the US as far as quality is concerned. it is the issue that Nikon USA won't perform servicing on them if something should happen. With a 5 or 6 thousand dollar lens, it becomes a significant issue to consider.

My expectation is that they would be genuine US imports, if they were grey market I'm sure that MPB would state so or give a straight answer to any question.

I do recall that this subject was raised a while back.
A UHH search for MPB brings up three threads, all positive.

Yes, it would be, Boz ... I can understand your concern ...

Can't you just call them and ask them, or aren't you in the NYC area?

MPB are a highly regarded company in the UK with an excellent reputation. I have not used them but one of my sons and some friends have and were very pleased with them .

I have been used MPB.com several times and am just about to buy another item now. They provide an excellent service and the goods they sell are accurately described. I did buy a used camera which has faulty LCD ans it was replaced with no questions asked.
It's a UK based company with outlets in Germany and now in the US, it is a very reliable company and because it's UK based you have no need to doubt their operation. Go ahead give MPB a chance to prove themselves.
