There was a couple of books that came out in the 90's (?) that started The Nitpicker's Guide to Star Trek (whatever version). However, if I remember correctly, every subsequent version of Star Trek was criticized by some fan or another at the beginning. Each subsequent commanding officer had a different style and attitudes. Someone was guaranteed to hate that style. TOS had the cowboy, TNG had the thoughtful diplomat, DS9 was darker than the previous versions, Voyager had the female captain, STE had the beginner just learning his way.
By the way, not sure, is this set in the normal space-time or the alternate created in the movies?
