These birds are fairly common in my area, and they are very competent fishers. Due to their very dark color, they can be difficult to photograph. I often find it hard to get sharp images and decent detail. You can tell that these birds tend to forget their manners at feeding time. They are not big on sharing meals with their siblings. I've always thought they have striking looking blue eyes.

One of my favorites. You are sooo correct that they can be difficult. I really like 2&3. The quietness in the third would go onto my wall. 👍😎

You sure overcame the obstacles. Three beautiful shots of a very handsome bird(s).

Mike, they may be difficult for me but your photos are fantastic. Number one would be on my wall for sure, or maybe all three of them.

Great stuff. Love the flight and feeding. The last: what a wonderful background. If only that limb over the birds head were a bit higher. Just seems to crowd a bit, but still a wonderful image.

Nalu...Thank you very much for your great comments. I realized that the limb over the birds head definitely does crowd a bit, so I moved it slightly. See what you think and thanks for the excellent advice.
