No. Spain street art

I recently took a road trip through northern Spain, to see a part of the country I've never visited, reintroduce myself to photography after a several decade hiatus, and hone my capabilities with all the new fangled capabilities of digital. After a day or two, I starting noticing the street art, at first, just the colors. Then I started noticing how merchants used street art for commercial appeal. Some were risque and one was NSFW... Some were just fun (the bull). The last is my favorite.

Nice work Hank. Life in our large cities would certainly benefit from more street art.

Welcome to UHH Hank. I agree, the last one is amazing. They are all beautiful though. I am noticing more street art in my area. I hope that is a trend.

I actually thought about that the more I saw. No doubt there was a bunch of graffiti, so of it political (especially in Basque country) and some just plain old graffiti. None, as far as I could tell (my Spanish is rudimentary and my Basque and Gallegan non-existant) was gang related which, of course, is a real problem in large cities.

That said, my overall impression was that the positive outweighed the negative; maybe it's cultural or maybe it's adaptability - one morning I saw a store owner spray painting the metal grill / shutter that covers his entrance, not just wiping it out - he turned the grill into an attractive ad for his business.

The artistic talent displayed by such street art is impressive and not given the recognition it deserves. I've also been impressed with some of the art displayed on railroad cars and those doing such work might also merit some recognition.
