Ranger, purely as a matter of curiosity, the bottom plate of the D850 body. Others here have said that Nikon has the camera made in Thailand, a break with their practice of making their "upper end" cameras in Japan. Even on the Nikon website, when they show a picture of the bottom, the plate there is either blanked-out or simply says "Nikon" and nothing else. So, clue us in. Flip yours over and tell us; Where is this little hummer actually being made?

I think Nikon started using Thailand mfg. with the D810. That seems to have been an OK move QC wise (after some start up glitches).

My D5 is made in Japan. It's less than a year old.

Why don't you show a section of a 25X blow up of the 850 & the same one from a lessor resolution camera? Snap shot size shows nothing to evaluate. What I want to know is how many X blow up can it make before the image falls apart from different cameras?

Great camera, lens and photos. Your previously posted photos of juke boxes, along with the cafe type table version song selections, are all beautifully maintained. I'm curious as to what memory cards you are using for your new D850?

Same with my D4s. Maybe Japan only does single digit.
Going back, my D300 came from Thailand.

How'd you get the last shot? Did you buy two?

Pictures are looking okay, but to really appreciate the high megapixel count we would need to see a cropped, detailed area of a picture.
Otherwise even a small sensor bridge camera would deliver about the same detail.

One thing to keep in mind, the downloads are not 46 MP. A couple of the downloads are 1MP or less. I don't think we will be able to actually see a 46MP image at UHH.

Lone Ranger, you may want to edit what EXIF data is included. Currently it pinpoints your location on a map.

It's hard to see the benefits of the high res sensor when the posted pictures are low res. (800 x 533 Pixels (3:2))

But, they are nice pictures!
