Pretty nice. The snake doesn't look all that angry to me, more like just saying Hey. One struck at my dog last year and could've made contact but chose not to, then eyed the dog while I took 36 photos of it.

In this day I came across this rattler crossing a dirt road and thought to myself why pull out the camera it is dusty and the snake is just crossing the road no real composition.
I decided to stop the car and reluctantly removed the gear
By this time the snake had curled up under a bush in a retaliation pose with its head nicely positioned in the light.
Thank you for looking

From my experience with rattlers, cotton mouths, and copperheads, this is not a "retaliation pose'. When a viper has about 12-18" in an "s" shape above the ground, it is in a "strike position".

Nice portrait.

Good shot. Thankfully we have no poisonous snakes here in Maine...plenty of moose...deer...bears and other animals. I love landscape myself and plenty of beautiful shots in our state to be had.

Hey, Karno,
Great image...but that’s a mojave rattlesnake, the most highly toxic and most deadly of all American rattlesnakes, I’m hoping you used a long lens!
