Fred, it they recommended it they did so for a reason! Probably previous experiences with travelers. I'd use it as a valid excuse to get a nice pocket sized point and shoot. It will serve as a fine backup for your regular camera. Have a GREAT trip!!

I am really enjoying this thread. I am at this very moment, relaxing in my hotel room in St. George, waiting for the grand adventure to begin. On a whim, I took a photograph this morning of a statue standing in front of the hotel entrance. Not with my D7500, not with my pocket camera, but with my iPhone!
