The concept is good. It's just not finished yet. There's no focus point to look at. My eye wanders all over trying to figure out what you're trying to say. I suggest a vignette to darken all around your central focus. The blown out sky is too distracting. Hope this helps.

For composition with an interesting camera angle to tell the story... (two guys stopping to talk on the road). .. the interior of the truck adds nothing. Perhaps moving around the the other side of the horse getting a clear shot of the rider from the side with his face showing... showing much more of the man on the ground (hopefully a decent angle of the side of his face) and the horse's head and the door of the truck in the background. The point of focus would be the riders face (candid) talking to the other man... The horse's head and truck door simply background.

As you move around you know it when you see it... a capture the tells the story with pleasing composition and lighting.

Even cropped differently and photoshopped... it still doesn't tell the story as well as an angle from the the other side of the horse behind the rider.
Further, you can see the rider is talking to the man on the ground which kinda tells the story but the impact of the overall image is lacking IMHO.

Too bright, and I'd like to see the head of the standing man.

That is a common everyday scene in cattle country and I think that I can see where you are going with it. It has a Keith Avery feel about it which I really like but there are just too many points to focus on and that confuses the statement especially for someone not familiar with ranching culture.
I like what I see so far and would appreciate seeing future attempts. How does it look in Black and white?

Try cropping the truck cab out to the door hinges and leave the full body of the horse. Can't do anything about seeing the face of the foreman this time but you will be much wiser next time. Great subjects and well worth the efforts when you have access.

Other than improper exposure the pho does not work for me because the man on the horse is seemingly talking to the sky. I realize there is another person in the scene and in reality I know that is the person being spoken too. But there is not enough of the person to matter. I think you mean to convey a conversation but with who.
