Bought a WD My Cloud device so I can send pictures and files via WiFi from anywhere. I was able to install it directly to the Network as indicated. I am having major problems figuring out how to update files. WD has several software packages for the use, but it is extremely confusing unless you are a computer geek (I am not). All requests for simple instructions end with the same operating manuals and explanations by people who think we all have the same ability like they do. Is there a simple "For Dummies" information package?
Simple answer, NO (Wish I could type this in bigger letters)
I have struggled with the same problems. I have it working but never sure if and when it will connect. When working it works great. Never lost any information with it.

I've had my WD for a few years. Bought it for the same reason-to upload from anywhere. Couldn't figure it out and gave up. I thought it was just me being computer illiterate. Not glad you're having issues, but glad I'm not the only one :-) Following this thread to see if someone has a good response!
Did you try looking on You Tube?
YourTube instructions are written by computer sabe people and they present the same procedures you see in instructions from WD. Computer geeks write for computer geeks not for computer software ignorants like me. I even tried WD Cloud for Dummies and found the same thing. I was hoping that WD would see these problems and provide easy instructions of 1) What software to use 2) Easy steps written for 9 years old to understand.
