Masked Lapwings.

Masked Lapwings are commonly (but incorrectly) called plovers in most states. I also called them plovers until I bought my first bird book three years ago & realized my error, lol. They have menacing 'spurs' on their wings which they will use when necessary--these spurs can cause serious injuries. They also feign a broken wing to distract predators away from their eggs or chicks. Downloading is recommended.
Strange-looking but pretty bird and good shots, Earl.
Nice set, Earl, especially #2
Excellent downloads, Earl!
Really odd looking birds, Earl. Fine photos, though.
Cool looking birds, Earl. I've never seen them before.
