Saw a series of posts about Pixelmator being a credible alternative to Photoshop. Any users here?

sounds like 'terminator'. No, to your question, the name alone is a 'walk away'.

I tested it before telling my students about it

Was surprised how powerful it was ;there is also a video for purchase that was very helpful.

A lot of bang for the buck

That is an advertisement for Pixelmator Pro.

Pixelmator (not PRO) has been available for quite a while (years). Click the "Explore" disclosure triangle in the upper right of the web page to see a link to Pixelmator along with all the spinoff products.

Use this link for the current version of Pixelmator:

Thanks. At just $29.99, that's a very good price.

It would be a major project writing the Windows software.

Hey, Jerry, where did you see that price? Is it a download or DVD.

Saw this on Tidbits Talk:

Has anybody mentioned Acorn yet? It offers a surprisingly large subset
of Photoshop’s features, including the ones I need most. I haven’t
used it heavily, because I already have and am used to Photoshop, but it
will probably be my replacement when I have to abandon Photoshop. It
claims to be able to read Photoshop files but admits that some
information is lost when doing so; and it can save to Photoshop file
format. It currently costs only $29.99, and that’s purchase, not
subscribe.

The current issue of Tidbits-Talk (TidBITS-Talk Digest, Vol 82, Issue 19) has a whole slew of posts on Photoshop alternatives. Try tidbits-takj@tidbits,com, There is other stiuff in it and the thread is not consecutive. Seems the are quite a few akternatives, especially if you don't need Layers.

Also, if you are a Mac user, Tidbits is a great source of information on nearly everything Mac.

If it doesn't feature layers how can it be a PS alternative?
