Well gang, I had a major GAS attack last week. After reviewing the specs of the Canon 80D and it having features my 5D MKII & 7D MKII didn't have I decided to take the plunge. I also wanted to upgrade my Canon EF 24-105L to version II.

So, I jump on to one of my online go to sites B&H for the purchase. They had the body in stock, however the 24-105L was back ordered so I put myself on the 'notification' list of when it would be available and in stock for purchase. So, I ordered the camera thinking it would only be a couple of days for the lens to come in and I could order it then. I received the camera in three days, free shipping and no tax with a boat load of goodies along with the body, including a nice medium sized bag, Sandisk memory card, lens cleaning kit and a lens cap keeper. ( don't know of anyone who uses those )

Well, after 4 days with nothing in notifications from B&H and patience not being one of my virtues with GAS continuing to build up lusting for the new lens, I went to Adorama's web site, another of my 'go too's, and viola' they had the lens in stock for the same price as B&H also with free shipping and no tax. Plunged again, and ordered the lens and upon delivery via UPS three days later it came with a bonus bundle as well including the Corel Paint Shop Pro X9 digital Creative Suite 2.0, lens cleaning kit, (another one) lens keeper, (oh boy) and some other stuff I forgot.

Twas like Christmas in September for me!

Hats off to Adorama and B&H for the stellar service and laser fast shipping. It's no wonder these two giants in the photography industry are, what they are. EXCELLENT!!!

Thanks for your report of a positive buying experience with these two online retailers. They both try hard and succeed.

Good for you! How soon will we see your 5DMKII in the "For Sale" section? I'll bet you will keep your 7DMKII.

No siree, going to keep my 5D MKII as it is FF and most excellent for landscapes.

I'm keeping mine too even though I now have the 1DXMKII.

What is your opinion of the 24-105 L II as an upgrade over the 24-105 L ?

Actually, one of the reasons I bought it was the lens lock. The lens creep in my version I drove me nuts. From the few images I have taken with it on my new 80D, I'm very pleased with the IQ, and it seems the auto focus is quicker and more responsive than my version I. I'm also anxious to try it on my 5D MKII and 7D MKII as well for some comparison. If NASCAR and my beloved Broncos weren't playing today, I would have gone to the Denver Museum of Nature or The Butterfly Pavilion for some more practice. Oh well, there's always next week!

Ah, yes! Raceday! My recliner will be getting a workout. F1 this morning, 1st race of the Chase this afternoon, and Indycar this evening. I told my wife to just feed and water me occasionally.
We'll be going to Austin next month for the F1 race.
Lens creep on my 24-105 irritates me also. Thinking about upgrading. Not sure if I will. Since I bought a 5DIV I rarely use my 7DII, which I may sell and then upgrade the lens.

Yes siree, Sunday! Now watching the Chiefs and Eagles, as KC is in our division and hoping for them to lose. Then at 1:00PM will jump to NASCAR flipping the channels during time outs and cautions. Then at 2:20PM will be the Broncos hosting the Texans. I lost my wife back in 2006, so it will be up to me to get up out of my recliner once in a while for an ice cold Budweiser.

I would have a tough time giving up my 7D MKII simply for the FPS, as my grandsons play football and wrestle.
Cheers!
