Great shot of a wonderful mushroom. If its what I think, it is very edible. We would boil it for a while and then cut it into strips role in cracker crumbs and fry in butter.

I don't know if it is or not, so I'd be afraid to try it.

As I said, "I Think" it is edible. My rule is that I never identify a mushroom for anyone without personally seeing it. It appears to be one of the chicken of the woods strains and would if it was very much edible. This variety would have a slight garlicy taste to it. Its texture would be similar to chicken. Pick it by cutting it across its base and bringing it into a high school biology teacher. Won't take much expertise to ID it in person.
