Has anyone had good or bad experiences with these folks?
My 14-24 was in for service ($610!!! Repair charge) and they cannot seem to get it right. Just returned for,the third time via UPS overnight at Nikon's expense!
Any good or bad stories are welcome! Just trying to,get my head around this fiasco!

Must be the hurricane has caused this issue.
I've had more experience with Nikon's technical services than I ever wanted, and all been uniformly good. The Melville, NY center is the one I use, and I cannot fault them in any way. YMMV.
Most of my service needs have been warranty work, if that makes a difference, but I have had the same good experience when it was on my nickel.
I'm sorry you're having problems. Which service center are you using?
What's the problem with the lens and what's the difficulty Nikon is havin repairing the lens?
The California center since I am west of the Mississippi.
They've always been good, but I'm on my third try with the 12-24.
When I attach it,to my D800, the image is very dark and it,will not focus lock. When I put my 28-300 on the same, body, all is well. Most vexing!

It left today for,the 3rd time. Sending my D800 with it!
We are all baffled!
Hit or miss sending/bringing stuff to Melville. They outsource a lot of repairs to authorized service centers.
If you happen to have one close to home you may want to check with them.
2 lenses repaired (new AFs Motors) one had same problem shortly after warranty on repair ran out.
Grip for D7200 was received and went missing for around 10 days. Nobody knew where it was, but eventually repaired.
Currently waiting for one to be repaired. After sending it back twice saying no problem, it is now in Japan at Nikon Labs having the entire VR system replaced. Kudos to the rep who on the third try had me send it to him so he could shoot with it until the intermittent problem raised its head. I'm hopefull!

I've had 4 lenses and 3 bodies serviced by Melville. No issues at all. I am a happy camper.

It sounds like time to give Melville a shot.
I've had 3 lenses repaired (14-24 twice) and two cameras. Their service and workmanship has been above reproach and the time for repairs was very reasonable. I use the LA center.

Brother Where you Been?
Within the Last 30 Days I've Posted My Comments Regarding Bad Experiences with Nikon's Service Center on UHH & How My Friend Got Hosed For a Total of $610.00 Dollars for 2 Repairs on His D90 in 2010, $560.00 for the 1st Repair, & $50.00 for the 2nd Repair, it was the 2nd Repair that He Was Pissed Over due to Bad Motor in the Camera Body that Powers the Lens that Acted Up When He Got the Camera Back.
He Took it Then to Nikon's Service Center in El Segundo, Calif (L.A.) & at 1st Nikon Wanted a $160.00 to Fix the Problem, There was A Hassle, He wanted to Have it Fixed For Free, But Settled to have the Problem Fixed for $50.00, Since Then He's had no More Issues with His D90 Since the Damage of the Body During the Brief Theft He Encountered at a Metro Muni Station in S.F. with a Punk Kid Looking to Score!
