I have mixed opinions about this one, so I'm gonna see what you guys think. Is this image worth working on, or should it just go away?

Thanks for your honest feedback.

I'm with you on the mixed emotions. I like the fog. The tree is nice, but perhaps it's not as interesting as I'd like. Not sure what it is about it.

The tree looks stark but disconnected. Maybe if you'd included all of it down to ground level it would be more connected with the image as a whole.

I'm withholding opinion until it's level. Might have to add a piece on the side and fill, but I think it's worth persevering with.

I like the composition. It might benefit from having the tree all the way to the ground; but I think the composition is fine. I also like the idea of the fog. The problem is that it probably needed more fog to give the ghostly feeling that I think are going for. I also have mixed feelings about the image. I like it ; but it is not really grabbing me. Thank you for posting.

I do have to say that I was going for a stark and lonely view. I wanted to get the whole tree, but the angles and slope would not let me, I had the wide angle all the way open.

This time of the year morning fog is not a problem. Getting to the location is! I like what you say about more fog though. (shoot out to John N, here) I need to go back and level the tree a little and use a deeper fog too. Unfortunately, I would have to use a 14mm or smaller lens to get more of the tree in the frame.

I think it has some interest, and the silhouetted approach works well, but it feels incomplete to me because of not being able to see the base. I'm with RG on this one. If you took one from further back with the base, that might be the one to spend some time with.
