My lovely wife, Peg, took this shot on her cellphone yesterday of our Whippet, Lacey May enjoying some sun in the back yard for the first time in about a week. It's been that long since the remnants of Hurricane Irma finally blew over. Peg says this is the best photo she's ever taken and I agree, so I told her I'd share it with my fellow "hoggers".

Very atmospheric, and for a cell phone that's a surprisingly good capture of some difficult lighting.

I always told my wife, good photography is more a matter of being in the right place, at the right time than anything else. I think this photo proves that. In fact, the only reason she got that shot was because she was walking toward the bridge when she stubbed her toe. She had to sit down and that was the scene she was looking at. She told me she couldn't even see her screen to see if it was framed up because of the glare of the sun.

I also told her that I thought if Lacey had her head turned in any other direction, it wouldn't have been as strong a photo.

Pretty sure my clients wouldn't be impressed with her cellphone, but, you never know! ;-)

This is the only photo of your wife's we have; but based, on this wonderful composition and the atmospheric lighting, I'd love to see more. This is a terrific shot.

A magic dog! I love it. The light is beautiful and the dog's position is perfect. That's a keeper, and it does not matter that kind of camera created it.

a wonderful place, magic light, the best of subjects beautifully backlit. Greens and golds, stone and wood, and Lacey May is the Queen of her domain.

You’re right, Peg isn’t a member and she’s not really a photographer, she’s just payed attention over the years to the basic rules about getting a good shot.

I think she does pretty well for the most part.

I loved the colors instantly when I saw it as well. I did do a little post work for her, but only some simple edited and sharpening.

Thanks Edie, it is a great shot, kinda makes me wish I took it. Peg names all of our dogs, and yes we are going to have it framed.
