As one who sees a potential artwork in just about any good photograph, I was delighted to have the chance to work with this unusually configured group of fall leaves. Somewhere between Greek Mythology and Conch Shells, I'd never seen a grouping like this. Dramatic lighting and a textured background seemed to be calling out ...... so I heeded the call.
The light is terrific. You have a real spotlight on the leaves without blowing out any of the detail. I like the way that works. The background does not look natural, but it is appropriate for the composition. Since the emphasis is on the leaves, it makes sense that the background should be interesting, but not steal the show or pose a distraction. I think your choice works. Well done.
