Until this morning I had only used my BR-15 rings on my F and F3, automatic and manual extension tubes and bellows. Went to mount one on an F4 and was surprised to find it extremely tight. Same thing on my other F4, F5 and Df. They will mount all the way, and seem to not have damaged the camera, but I won’t use them directly on an autofocus camera again. Nikon warns against using a BR-2 ring on autofocus cameras (use the BR-2a), but I can find nothing against using a BR-15. A Nikon representative was not aware of any complaints, and I found nothing about it online. Use with caution!
Edit: I do not have any chipped extension tubes to test, but it might be a problem with them, too.
Thanks for heads up RWR...
And yes I'm totally aware of the need to use the BR-2A on AF bodies...
I have and use this and it works extremely well, albeit it's a tad snug also so I use thin deer skin driving gloves to twist it off... (saves the fingers)
And many thanks on the tip about user the BR-3 as a reverse mount lens hood!
I have this and forgot it mounts easily on a reversed Nikkor... Good Show!
